Description
The North Ranger Parawing is an ultralight, super-compact single-skin kite with an extremely short bridle, specially designed to get you onto your foil with ease—no paddle, no wing, and no inflatable kite. Once you're on the foil, you can easily store the Ranger in its dedicated on-water backpack and continue foiling completely hands-free, riding the power of the ocean swell. Pure freedom. Wherever you are: on a lake, in a harbor, on the open sea, or even on land.
If you accidentally fall off the foil, simply pull the Ranger back out and continue on your way. Thanks to its clever design, this parawing feels responsive, stable, and intuitive, even with minimal steering input. Ideal for anyone who wants to downwind, surf swells, or explore new spots without needing to be a strong paddler.
The Ranger features North's exclusive D-Rib Technology , which diagonally supports the canopy for optimal force distribution. This reduces the need for bridles, keeps the canopy extremely stable during depowering, and makes the wing exceptionally responsive.
Another industry first is the Depower Tab , strategically placed halfway along the bright yellow LE bridle line. It acts as a handbrake, allowing you to instantly dump power, or you can hook the tab to the end of the bar to sail completely powerless.
In addition, colour coding on the canopy and bridles and a black leading edge ensure super-fast visual orientation when setting up, launching and steering.
The Ranger comes in a sleek on-water backpack designed to switch between sizes on the water without ever having to return to shore. You can carry one Ranger in your hand (e.g., 4m) while simultaneously carrying two additional sizes in the bag (3m + 5m). The backpack is compact enough for duck diving, drains quickly, and has extra straps for attaching a second parawing or empty wing. Made with recycled polyester straps, it fits over wetsuits and impact vests.
This parawing opens up new downwind opportunities for everyone—especially for riders with a wind or kite background who don't want to spend hours paddling. But the Ranger is much more than just a launch assist: it can be used as a rescue chute , to launch from a point break, to ride waves without pumping, to travel along the coastline, or whenever a regular wing or kite simply isn't allowed due to space limitations or regulations. On land, the Ranger is also ideal for freestyle and freeride on mountainboards, skateboards, snow, or ice.
